Hi guys, we have a Nov 09 SLK 200 kompressor.
It is coming to the end of its finance contract and we have to decide to stump up to keep it or hand it back.
It is in very good condition, 1 careful Lady owner  (1 minor scuffed alloy!) Manual gearbox, 18k, COMAND, White, parktronic, telephone pre-wiring, auto wipers, heated seats and airscarf, FMBSH.

Can any one suggest what's its worth? It will cost us £12.2k to buy it.
Thanks!

The best way to look at this is "do I want to own a 2009 SLK200?". If the answer's yes, then the next question is "would it cost me more to buy another example of similar age, spec and condition?". If that's a yes too, then pay the balloon payment and keep the car you know.

Thanks for the feedback - certainly interesting, how much difference does having the manual box make? - is it saleability or is there a significant cash difference too?

and as a straight forward trade-in (aside from any deal that may be built in on a new vehicle) what does it 'book at' to a trader?

Yours is worth a smidge more than the balloon -as is generally the case.

Manual knocks its value for 1k+
Adding prep and warranty is circa 2k
Dealer margin is prob 2k

Knock all this off the price of the one listed and you are there or there about.

Depends if you want to keep it? I would suspect you would drive out in a new one for similar money a month to funding the balloon.

Thanks, that kind of what I expected, the truth is that we are either way about keeping the car - she doesn't really know what to replace it with - short list is new slk, new c coupe, or an evoque. We are arranging some test drives, but if none of these float her boat then we might keep it for a while.

I would hope that the trade in deal will at least go somewhere towards the new car, but don't really expect much.

Even if you go for something else why not buy it for £12.2k and immediately sell it for a sorthwhile profit ?

^ +1. £12.2k seems very cheap to be able to buy the car from the lease company.

Must be an easy profit here. White seems to be an "in" colour too. Not sure about SLKs but when I was looking for my CLS, prices for white cars were at least a couple of grand more and they were very scarce.

Thanks for the feedback .
We are in the throes of deciding which route to take. The ideal scenario would be that SWMBO drives and likes one of the cars on the shortlist, and we can trade ours, getting a decent amount over the balloon, and also a decent discount off of an existing car (always a good ploy, especially at the end of the quarter, which is when this deal must be done by!!)
the alternative is to finance the balloon whilst we look around at what she likes - then it will be summer, and the SLK will be even more appealing than it is now.

Had another call from the stealers the other day - still only offering the balloon - £12,200.

That night I was watching telly and the ad came on for webuyanycar (shame they ditched the music) so I thought I'd stick the reg in to see.....£13,115!

so that's a grand more, sight unseen, from a crowd that clearly buy at the lowest rates possible!

decided we're going to buy the car and see how we go!
