SLK 55 AMG Buying Guide???

hey guys!!

i am considering buying an SLK 55 within the next 6 months but hav been unable to get any info online regarding buying a used 55 amg

i will b lookin at an earlier car, 2005 or 2006 car for around £25 to £30k at the early part of next year but i want to find out as much info about the cars from an owners point of view as possible before i do so!!

things such as what too look for when buying?? running costs ( servicing and parts etc )???

can any SLK 55 AMG owners please anwser these for me??

I remember having one.

Might be the odd thread on here with some info about it if you care to search my posts and threads. You will need to go back a while.

You need to check the car engines rocker covers are correctly torqued as if they aren't it starts to leak oil. Esy fixed, but requires new sealant once oils breaks through.

Mine had 2 new water pumps due to incorrect sealant.

And it had the power steering system replaced, which it turned out, was the result of an incorrectly installed chip in a servo sensor. Big job, lots of money for Mercedes.....all the result of some inattention by the bloke who put it together.....which pretty much is all of the other issues it had too.

It ate tyres too......but that was more to do with me and the right foot (a direct result of the sound) than anything to do with rubbish tyres....


But the normal standard fit tyres were useless in rain, or cold damp conditions. No Grip. And I mean, no grip.

Good in dry and warm tho.

Make sure its been serviced regular, that youhave evidence of that, and check its not been remapped........some out there have been
