<div class="bbWrapper">The interior rear view mirror fixing has detached itself from the windscreen. I have tried to glue it back on with Tetrion Mirror Fix Bond glue but this was unsuccessful. It would appear that it was originally fixed with a thin double sided clear tape. Has anyone had any success with bonding the mirror back on.<br /> Thanks. Tommy</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">If it's like the R171, the only long-term solution is a new windscreen. Don't ask me how I know...<br /> <br /> See this thread : <a href="https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/r171-interior-mirror-loose.266111/" class="link link--internal">R171 Interior Mirror Loose | Interior</a><br /> <br /> The Sikafast only lasted a year or so. I've no idea what the black stickum I referred to was, or I'd have bought some of that; it lasted longer than the Sikafast. There may be something available that actually does the job, but I spent quite a lot of time on the internet and never found it.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">If you want mirrors to stay on you need one of the UV activated mirror glues....usually a <i>UV</i>-curing cyanoacrylate <i>adhesive</i>. Like the factory use. Nothing else lasts in my experience. Just use it on a sunny day otherwise it wont cure!</div>

Probably something from their VHB tape range:<br /> <div class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--unfurl js-unfurl fauxBlockLink" data-unfurl="true" data-result-id="946" data-url="https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/vhb-tapes-uk/" data-host="www.3m.co.uk" data-pending="false"> <div class="contentRow"> <div class="contentRow-main"> <h3 class="contentRow-header js-unfurl-title"> <a href="https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/vhb-tapes-uk/" class="link link--external fauxBlockLink-blockLink" target="_blank" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" data-proxy-href=""> 3M™ VHB™ Tapes | 3M United Kingdom </a> </h3> <div class="contentRow-snippet js-unfurl-desc">Create durable bonds that actually get stronger over time with our high-strength, VHB tapes. <div class="bbWrapper">Due to the small area involved Id be surprised if any tape will last in that hot, UV prone position for much time at all.</div>

They may also suggest an alternative adhesive for the application.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Gorilla double sided works well at all temperatures and strong enough for most jobs incl. dash cam mounts.</div>

You'd need to be a dasb hand with a scalpel, though, because the actual contact area between mounting plate and screen is quite small. or at least, it is on the R171.<br /> <br /> Good luck, and please let us know how you get on.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">The mating surfaces would need to be very clean before mounting the mirror. I use a product called Metamark surface cleaner for jobs like this., it is used for cleaning when fitting large format graphics to shop windows Etc. I cleaned my windscreen with a good glass cleaner, then did it again with Metamark and was amazed by how much crap was on the cloth.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I used methylated spirits; it's not just a drink, you know.... <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></div>
