Click on something and it takes for ever to load or change. Is this something to do with the 'cache' needing cleared and, if so, how? Or is there something else I could do?

Assuming you're running Windows:

Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and select 'Task Manager', then look for anything using a significant percentage of your CPU while nothing is running. This could indicate some kind of malware.

Otherwise do some housekeeping with Spybot or Adaware (these get rid of Spyware).

If it is just Internet Explorer:

Click on Tools->Manage Add Ons (if I remember correctly) and disable any extra toolbars etc.

Download and run Malwarebytes it will get rid of any spy ware, trackers and key loggers that may have build up on your system.

Is it just while you are surfing the net?

This sounds mundane - but also check the free space on your hardrive..

yowsers, no reply for a few days.. it MUST BE REALLY slowing down now....

OK. Done the malwares thing. Says no problem found.:(
What I've really noticed is the download time for my Photobucket album (amongst others) seems to take an age. Never was like that before.

Are you using IE8? I have had problems with IE8 and photobucket, keeps wanting to close down, and seems to want to close everytime there is any tenuous link to the PC, spouts on about security so now using a Chrome for those applications.

Have you cleared down you temporary files recently? in IE go to tools/Internet options and select Delete temporary files etc etc. What you may want to consider is running a defrag too as if the HDD is fragmented then bits of files end up all over the place, taking longer to open or save documents.

Me too - why would that be?
