Well, whilst I'm not at work I seem to be glued to my laptop gleaning as much info as I can about these E55's. I have called 3 separate places about 3 cars and whilst 2 were very helpful and were happy for me to take the car for a full inspection and an independant MB specialist the third was not. Anyone who read another of my posts asking about a car up in Yorkshire might be able to take a good guess at which dealer refused this option...

Something else which I have come across is this radiator issue and it has me slightly confused. I have used the search bar and read a few threads and have asked Google but I always feel safer getting a fresh perspective. If this topic being brought up again annoys anyone then I apologise in advance.

I have read that it affected cars upto and including the 2003 car but I have also read that people with newer E55's also changed the rads. Is there a definitive answer or thread somewhere which doesn't get too complicated? I have a short attention span, you see....

Thanks again guys.

Appreciative newbie :)

It's a shame they didn't take that pic of the instrument cluster 145 miles ago.

Christ it's got half a tank of fuel in it! Whenever I've bought a 2nd hand car I've had to ask how sure they are it'll get me to the nearest fuel station that's within eyeshot of the forecourt.

It was probably nearly full when they started it up and left it ticking over for a few mins before they took that picture..

Regardless of year, id change the radiator, these cars are all getting old, radiators tbf dont last for ever, cheaper than a gearbox too.

I think that seems to be the general consensus. It's already costing me money and I haven't even chosen one yet!

I don't understand how any dealer, who will only allow you test drive a car once you've bought it, sells any cars at all...

I can only assume funding by another source.

It's absurd and just leads you to assume that there are hidden issues.

Most, if not all, of those affected by the glycol issue will have been fixed by now.

...or have a new transmission by now.

As above - I doubt that any car driven for 15 years with Ethylene Glycol leaking into the transmission ATF survived with no catastrophic failure.
