Sls @ mbw

very nice,,,,the back does however look a bit american!

Looks good.

Woohoo, I wondered when it'd turn up. No doubt they've left a card through my letterbox by now :thumb:

So they go to all the trouble of giving it, its own AMG trailer pulled by a GL covered up to keep it nice n clean for display & then unload it in a snowy/slushy carpark???

It was being driven onto the loader as I went past, so not sure why it was there or for how long.

It looked great in the flesh, much better than my poor photo conveys, oh and the sound... :thumb:

I guess metal like this gets a PDI and delivery 'experience' at MBW rather than a hand-off at a dealer.

Ah, I was wondering when my new car was arriving.

old git mode: I don't go for the chrome fuel filler flap.
Hasn't it been done to death by now?

Its their demo car for new owners to see before they spec their own cars. (which have to be spec'ed within the next two weeks for the first UK deliveries to start).

I have an appointment to see it this Friday lunchtime, if I can take pics I will!

(and no I am not getting one, but my business partner is) :bannana:

I went to MBWorld on Friday to see the SLS.

It is a fantastic looking car, very long nose but quite short once you get past the A-pillar.

The interior was a very high standard, lovely leather and aluminium with some proper chunky switches and dials. The gull wing doors are very easy to use, however if you are not a 'normal size' (i.e. a bit fat) then getting in and out could be difficult. The very high door sills will be scratched very easily which is a shame.

The cabin is a bit too cramped for my liking, I don’t think its much bigger than the SLK inside which is a shame for such a big car, it did feel a bit claustrophobic. The middle of the roof has all the hinges and supports for the gull wing doors which means the middle part of the roof dips down a bit which could be a pain if you are very tall.

Started it up and it does sound very nice, the exhaust note is the best I have ever heard from an AMG, cracking and popping even in neutral when revving it up, it must be 0.00001 dB under the legal limit!

The B&O £4000 sound system option was very good as well, but not sure it was £4000 worth, probably half that.

Unfortunately no photo's, but it was the same car pictured in this thread.

Its located in the Maybach lounge which is closed to public, but you can just about see it if you stand at the main Maybach door and look to the left.

They also had a rather nice CLK CTM Cabriolet which was rather tempting...
