So Embarrassed...

Imagine the scene, me in an Alfa 33, the other guy in a Porsche 944...he looks over, I look back, he looks over again and I jump forward (and stop)...he runs the red light...:bannana::bannana:
Best conducted when a large artic is crossing the junction :D

I've done worse. Traffic light grand prix, I am in a BMW, manual thing. Little SLK is next to me, mate goes, we gotta lunch that hair dressers car, we are in the competion lane (lane 2 as its otherwise known).

Yours truly puts it into gear and is very excited. Nice smart get away. What happens, the slowest take off ever.

In my excitement I shove the car into 3rd gear rather than 1st. Clue lots of clutch slip as I ensure I don't stall. My mate says, WTF happened there, I say, I put it into 3rd by mistake, can't you tell, now we are doing 30mph and there aint much noise and I haven't changed yet.

He says "you tit". I say BMW make very notchy manual gearboxes...

The next car I bought was an automatic...

OP, that is a great story, well done for sharing,

I've starting to think this car is jinxed....Seriously jinxed.
Family party last night and due to dying with a severe dose of man flu, no booze so I was driving.
Approaching the start of the M62 at the Rocket roundabout, if anyone knows this, four lanes into three, wonderful fast sweeping bends onto the M/way.

The road was empty, and I drove quick'ish using the all of the road, out of nowhere a heavily modded scooby flew past me. First I new was the anti-lag pop from his exhaust and the cheeks of my bum tighten as he passed at warp speed.
The Missus, who was half ******, looked at me and said "Don't"
I was four up so no supersonic driving, caught up, a wry smile to each other and took the next junction. Being a scooby owner when I had my first Mid Life Crisis, one appreciates what the car is all about.(unlike Pug's)

Onto a clear 2 mile straight through an industrial estate, just over the speed limit and a white Fiesta pulls out of a factory without looking, prolly taking for granted the road is empty, I take evasive, other side of the road to overtake and unbelievably without indicating he turns right......
At this point I would like to thank Mercedes Benz for equipping my car with a damn good set of brakes and the stunning stopping distance from 60-0....
There were words coming out of my mouth as if I was "speaking in tongues".
As I composed myself for pursuit, the wife had sobered up considerably, prolly the negative G's she has just experienced and managed another "Don't"...
See what today brings....

What a saddo having anti lag mapped in. Doubtful he actually had it.

Mind, remember monstering a Porka 911 in my old Scooby. Wet road traffic light GP and you could still just launch the thing. Got up to 70 (ns dual carriageway) and slipped it into 5th and waited for the inevitable high speed overtake. Desperate to get home for some viagra no doubt.

My missus hated the scooby, I did chop in the family Voyager on a whim....I can still see her face when I pulled up...."Whatcha think love" as she burst into tears...
The final straw came when picking her up from shopping and she asked if her friend could jump in. A boot full of food and four up, the first speed bump nearly took my Pro-drive exhaust off.
I emptied the boot and gave her a tenner for a cab home, friend in tow...
It was my comfy bed or the car after that....

I've been doing my best to suppress my inner gunslinger ever since the time I tried to impress my mates with my new Abarth Strada lined up alongside an XR3i. Shot off the line like a cat with a rocket up its fundament, snapped enthusiastically in to 2nd...or rather, snapped the gearlever right off at the base. Limped the 3 miles home stuck in 1st, engine screaming but not loud enough to drown out the hysterical laughter.

25+ yrs on I'm still scarred by that experience:o

LMAO... good story.

Here we go again...
I was on the road all morning pricing jobs (Insurance contract) heading back to base and I'm getting pushed by another 'kin Subaru, a Y reg Legacy...
This thing was a proper "chav" bus and totally cheesed me off being so close, absolutely uncalled for. Did the S button thing and buried the loud pedal.

I had a couple of miles of straight duel carriageway ahead, pretty clear. Not much in it for the first quarter mile or so and kept my foot down. I can honestly say I bottled it shortly after ....

The Legacy started going in reverse at speed and the world ahead seemed to become a Play Station game. I am still gobsmacked at the rate it went from 70mph to thoughts of tyre failure or other catastrophic events that were going to kill me were forefront in my mind.
Looking like a Japanese fighter pilot, I glanced at the dash and backed off swiftly as my turn off was looming.

I am still a tad dubious not knowing it's limits and even though there's so many gizmos stopping you from seriously harming yourself, knowing how far to push it would be good....Then again....:D

Prolly the first and last time this will happen...Honest Guv...

:Aaah been there...got the Tshirt. My Mrs pulls up at the traffic lights in her Fiat 500 Lounge 1.2 (yes I said 1.2). We look at each other...as I look down to engage the tiptronic manual, I look up she's gone...I had to cook that day.

LOL...You clutz...:D

Would have thought traffic / road conditions / licence preservation would start to be an issue long before the car started finding its limits! Certainly plenty of headroom at 100, haven't had chance to push much further than this in mine.

 Yes and keep it up very quietly for 500 miles between refuels (not on Uk roads officer).
