My S204 220 CDi is in for the airbag recall on 2/8 - reading through here I guess they will try and automatically perform the diesel update. Are there any benefits at all to me in having it done (can't see any - at least on here!) If not, can I refuse that particular update?

Many thanks

I'd be concerned that they would want to address some NOx reduction , this would mean more EGR operation thus more soot for the DPF .

Plus lower rpm torque .

Even if you refuse the update they'll bloody well do it !

My 2010 A207 E350 cdi had this recall done yesterday. MB Salisbury offered the ecu update. Asked if there were any modifications to the car. I declined the update which they were fine about.

MB did this to Mrs Saff's 246 a few months back. Since then there seems to be less torque and a reluctance for the transmission to select first unless car is at absolute standstill. I can't think of any improvement.

Basically if you have it done your car will achieve less MPG and drive worse.
