I have a Sony svr-hdt1000. We've had it for about 5 years perhaps.

All of a sudden it is not showing the list of recorded programmes. The unit can see there is approx. 250 M of data on the disk but there is no listing.

It has the latest firmware and I have tried the "repair disk" option and the kill the power for 5 minutes trick. All to no avail.

My last option is to re-format the disk but Mrs P has many hours of stuff she has yet to watch recorded.

Any ideas please chaps?

Could you transfer the recordings to an external drive?

Sony forum has a few similar problems but no response toward a fix since 2013!

Tumbleweed Central.....

Despite my recent post on our DVR going **** up, I managed to save the old girl.

When you say the firmware is up to date - are you relying on the settings in the menu to tell you?

Mine said it was and it turned out it was running 1.63 and there were a further two updates (1.66 and 1.70) which I updated to.

Problems fixed!

So I would do some searching on the model number for firmware updates.

I found the firmware from a link on a forum which linked back the Sony site itself so might be worth a check on there?

My gut feeling is your hard disk has corruption on it or a physical fault (which I would think wiping it will yield the answer to).

I do tell Mrs JB to watch her stuff promptly in case the HDD goes in our's. She is not bothered too much which is fine.

On demand TV is the way forward!

I'll check this out.
