jeep grand cherokee 3l 2006
hello all, could some one help, have just go a 2006 jeep grand cherokee was thinking having it remap by celtic tuning, they say they will come to my house and remap it for£352 is it worth going a head with it or is it a waste of money . its a 3 liter diesel engine, thanks for any help you could give.

Mapping it will make a difference to performance and you will get better mpg, my only comment is £352 from Celtic seems rather steep. Going rate is usually £250 max for top end stuff.

thanks for that will get back to them about price,im all new to this, thanks again

..and don't forget to notify your insurer :)

right did not know that more money?

Some load the premium others don't but you do need to tell them as if you are involved in an accident then some insurance companies do check for remaps before paying out to ensure they are declared :thumb:

If this is any help... my insurance company wanted the equivalent of 30% increase in premium for a re-map that was supposed to take the car up to 170bhp from its current 143bhp.

(I don't really believe that the re-map would have produced all that power in real life - which was OK with me, I was hoping for a smoother power delivery curve rather than all-out power increase - but because the insurer based they premium on the tuning company's claimed bhp, had I gone for it, I would have ended-up paying higher insurance premium for bhp I never actually got...)

thanks for that will ask them,do you know of any company's who will do the remapping???

il give them a go thanks let you know what they say,

Do check your insurance. As said above. Many companies will refuse cover, some add about £50 and some nothing.

yes have checked they say no problem as long as i tell them if i have it done, also that rs mapping dont answer phone so sent them email, and Celtic mapping will not come down on price,

Sadly my experience is that they don't answer emails either - they must be very busy, perhaps something to do with their low price...

well just got them on the phone they say they will phone back lets see??????

Sorry for the slight OT but those prices seem quite reasonable - at least from a Belgian perspective. Going rate here is 600 euro for my C220, some not even including a rolling road. Celtic Tuning wanted £395 but since they don't have a dealer in Belgium I would have to ship the ECU to them, and I don't fancy that.

For the GC and its 211 bhp engine, I think there are quite some improvements to be made, if the C/E 320 CDI engines (it is 99 % the same engine, no?) are anything to go by.

hello, well Celtic will not shift on price and the other one seems Micky mouse, why dont you drive over here for a few day and have the remap done?i think i will have my remapping done but want to fine the right company to do it

you want re-mapping done by someone who is an expert on that particular engine...
... so really you probably want to ask around in the Jeep forums :)

thanks for that and have just ask same on jeep website,

We used remap science for Ford mapping before we started doing remaps ourselves and they are OK. Jeep engine is a dead easy remap and don't pay more then £250
