Hi,
I'm planning to change(DIY) spark plug on my W202 97 next weekend. Do I
have to disconnect the battery terminal before start the job. Next question is, can I use electrical contact cleaner to clean MAF. Thanks.

No need to disconnect battery...

Best thing to use is isophryl (sp?) alcohol spray available from maplins as it doesn't leave any residue... Come to think about it, its used to clean electrical stuff such as video players so we may be talking about the same thing..

Isopropyl Alcohol

Isopropyl Alcohol .http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=isopropyl alcohol&doy=9m7&source=15
Personally I would only clean the the MAFF if you feel you have a problem. Be extremely careful when ordering electronic"contact cleaners" since some have lubricants in addition to solvents and you could end up contaminating the Maff instead of cleaning it. The ipa aerosol mentioned should be residue free.

if there's no symptoms of MAS failure, just leave it alone. If it fails just change it with a new one, I was told by one mechanic that they are unrepairable.

What are those two small black box connected to the HT leads sitting on top of the spark plugs?

They are your coil packs. Instead of having a regular coil you have a coil pack that usually supplies 2 cylinders with a spark.

Isopropyl Alcohol

Your local chemist will be able to supply you with isopropyl alcohol, just ask at the counter.

Now I know. That's why I cannot find the coil when I changed my plugs last year. Thanks Ian.
