Hello folks,

So I allowed my other half to use my car yesterday. Having driven it today I have found that that his managed to pop bothe the front speakers, 'truly just how load can you play the latest Lady GaGa!' :wallbash:

BMW parts are out due to the price, I was wondering if could anyone suggest a lowish cost supply and fit firm in Essex Colchester way?

And yes I know, they would not have gone if it was a MB! ;)

Seems strange that both sides have gone?

Sure it is not the head unit or amp?

I would try pulling the fuse first and resetting it, just to make sure.

or even switching sources? This seems to reset our radio which occasionaly forgets that it exists.

speakers not the problem:

- Lady Gaga
- dodgy wallpaper

Suggest other half is...

have you tried fiddling with the fade/balance? it could have been set for the sound to come out of the rear speakers?

also it may be an idea to check the rear of the HU for any loose connections etc.

Thank you for the advice thus far :D

Have done the fader balance bit today and it seems to be only the front nearside speaker 'tweeter'.

So, defo need a new one if anyone is on who can recommend an audio shop?

Have you tried the bay? Would have thought you would pick a used on up for not much....

The BMW tweeter plugs into the mid range and has a resistor in it to cut out the mid range frequencies, to be honest it will be a lot more hassle and cost to buy one elsewhere.

They are around £30 from the dealer after discount last time I looked.

Have a look on RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog to get the part number and an idea of price.
