Upgraded the front door speakers today, to Pioneer 4" 2way
Fairly straight forward, removed door card.
Remove factory speaker and 3 rubber bungs which hold it in place. (2nd pic)
Undo the front panel that holds the seat switch and speaker grill (7 Torque bits) T20 - pics 5 and 6 shows front removed.
Offer the speaker upto the back of door card and screw in from front to back with small M8 bolts, do the nut up at the back for top 2 which line up with factory fitting holes. 3rd hole m8 bolt and nut then use large washer to clamp the speaker down t the nut with another nut.
Splice in factory wiring, solder and tape to secure connection.
Put everything back together again.
Does sound 100% better than factory speakers, more depth more volume and can hear the high notes thanks to tweeters,
Pioneer speakers mounting depth 43MM, factory speakers 40MM, plenty of space. - £20 Halfords.
Some threads show you need to add a wooden space for securing speaker, no need use a long enough M8 bolt and nut with washer more secure and tidy.
No need to sound proof, in fact it would be very difficult as you need to mount speaker front behind and screw in from front. does not distort and no unwanted vibrations or leakage of sound.
Did not cut the factory plugs off as I can put everything back to standard if I wanted to.
