Question about specialist milling services

Does anyone know of a specialist that will cut or drill holes in a piece of zebrano wood trim to make room from some switches?

I'll be interested to see the replies to this as it's something I want doing at some stage. I got a nice piece of burl that has too few holes for my car.

with a dremel and the right tools, its fairly easy to do?

Ask Talbir, he has a habit of adding extras and has added many switches as a result.

Yup. £35 is a no brainer.

Hi,
The MB worksheets suggest to use a router, but at £35 for new panel that would be what i would opt for, thats cheap too, the correct one for my 43 with the switch slot for the rear blind was nearly £70.

Wifes old w210 e320 had the rear blind which while not essential was a very useful extra, hot days annoying headlamps etc.

Previous owner had fitted it himself and had also cut the hole with a think a dremel and had done a really nice job, but for £35 i wouldnt bother plus you can e bay the old panel.

I'm after an electric rear blind. Any pitfalls with these?

Hi,
I think the only draw back will be sourcing a wiring loom as one for a 1997 pre facelift is no longer available so i very much doubt one for yours will be, as its an earlier car. I got one for my 43 ok and to be honest i don,t know what the difference would be, as all the connections "seemed" to be the same, yours may have different switch connector as the switches are different between early and late 202's also the fuse box connector maybe different too, personnally try to get one for your year car, if not buy one for a facelift 202 and modifiy it to suit.
The new shelf will have no rear speaker holes, though the material can be cut with a sharp knife, there not easy to get right and took a good couple of hours to do due to the fact the covers angle down.

Don't you risk tearing the veneered surface doing that though?

Ah, I just looked at mine closely and it's solid wood right through :)
