is it possible to access the speed dial settings on my phone from the command aps, alpha numeric keypad?

I don't think so (although my experience is from a different Comand unit). But can you explain why you would want to change the speed dial settings from Comand instead of doing it from the phone? I assume you don't want to change this very often.

I dont want to change the speed dials, just access the ones stored on the phone.

So if I press and hold the number 1 on the command will it use the speed dial set on the phone

I am finding using the steering wheels buttons a pain, as the menu always starts at Z

Yes, COMAND can access the speed dial numbers but IIRC it has a rather strange way of allocating those positions.
I don't have my handbook handy at the moment so can't check, sorry.

Hopefully some one else will have the definitive answer.

Meanwhile, have you tried pressing a number on COMAND? On mine #1 key has the voicemail symbol...

If i remember right, speed dial 1 on the COMAND accesses SIM memory location 1 (and 2 goes for 2 (etc))

Comand can not know what speed dials are allocated on the phone itself - its information that only the phone itself knows (if you see what I mean)

Thanks Richard, that jogged my memory!

One has to store one's "speed-dial" numbers in location 1 - 10 on your SIM to have a speed-dial like option on COMAND

That makes sense, I thought you wanted to access speed dials to edit them, though accessing for phone calls was obvious (which it isn't, like early W221 cars are lacking that feature and only come with a Comand update). Sorry for missing your point but luckily others were able to help.
