Spotify spamming random songs

Hi all,

As per title, when I get into the car and my phone connects, Spotify will begin playing a random song, usually from a playlist I was last listening to. Not, e.g., the playlist I'm currently trying to pick a song on. I press pause and back on my phone, but it just pops up the same song / song from that playlist again after a few seconds.

Is there a way to get the car / Spotify to stop trying to play when I've told my phone not to? Have had a look in settings on Spotify and on COMAND but can't find anything pertinent

Beyond my pay grade, really, but it might be something to do with music stored on your phone rather than streamed. "If" you're trying to play music not already downloaded on your phone, it "might" be a lag in accessing the track from the Cloud.

Are you trying to play something already downloaded on your phone, or something that you're streaming?

(But I'm only theorising. Every time I climb into the Motor, Spotify just starts playing the last stuff that I had on, well before I've pulled on my driving gloves....)

Thanks Mike, it varies as to downloaded or streamed music, seems to depend on the playlist I was last listening to. Need to get in there for 20 mins and have a proper play around with it.

Yep, methinks that streamed music 'logically' will be buffered into your phone, ready for you to play - so removing the dependency on a smooth streamed signal.

So it 'may' be just about "spare" tracks buffered in the phone, ready for you to play. They 'maybe' seem like Spam because the Spotify throws ad hoc tracks at people as they stream.

But I don't know how Spotify really works, this is just a "first principles" explanation.

.....or the car may just not like you taste in music.........

Not sure I'm fully understanding the issue but I know Spotify can add tracks it thinks you may like to user created playlists. So, for example, you've made a playlist of Christmas songs without Mariah Carey it may drop Ms. Carey in straight after Jonah Lewie before returning to your Wizzard.

This can be turned off.
