Dear colleagues

I have with out warning developed a problem with my steering on my CLS. When I turn the wheel there is a terrible screeching noise coming from wheels. The steering wheel is also difficult to turn. I thought perhaps bad steering pump or belt but No the CLS is fitted with an electronic steering rack replacing the need for a steering pump etc. Ran a diagnostic test but all I was getting back was a message saying ‘steering angles undecipherable’ could it be a bad sensor? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated
Thanks

A better diag tool will help get communication. But I doubt that is your issue. I would be looking at the lower arm ball joints for water ingress. They are common to squeak when they are worn out.

Thanks for that. I forgot to mention that there are no warning lights on the dash. Which may suggest that it might not be an electric issue? I will check lower arm ball joints tomorrow. Thanks
