What's the best option here and where can I get one for my C280?

Will any of the AMG ones fit?

C36 should go straight on , pipes should be the same size .

You'll need a custom adapter to fit a c36 box, the pipe will be a larger diameter.

Not doubting you for a minute Aka$h , but wouldn't a 280 pipe ( that the engine from a C36 is based on ) be the same size ? thought the straight six engines all had the same size pipe ?

My 430 pipe is the same size as a CLK55 pipe ( both V8's ) , my 55 backbox went straight on ...

Not without having an adaptor made to fit the smaller pipe of the 320 or 230 ....

The C36 has a performance exhaust with 3 inch diammeter because its a tund engine, the C280 doesn't.

I've got a performance system on mine which was welded to the C36 backbox. but my old standard piping was far too small in diammeter to fit to the C36 backbox, it would've had to be stretched by a massive amount to fit it on.

But i'm guessing you want the gain of power from the whole system, so i'd advise starting from the cat back and then welding the remainder of it to the c36 backbox. Its a perfect fit.

Well , on that reasoning , surely the CLK 55 is a tuned engine ?

Yet it has the same exhaust diameter as the 430 ....

No i mean, that the C36 is a tuned engine in the sense that it was a c280 block which was bored out and then had different cams/crank/blablablabla + loads of extras. Thus needed a larger diammeter exhaust.

I cant say much abou the 430/55 engines... but they are V8's and this is a 6 pot... so i'm not too sure what technicalities there are with those. But the C36 was pushing alot of bhp for its displacement (even by today's standards) for its time. The CLK 55 is a huge engine with a reasonable amount of power in regards to its displacement.
