ml270 cdi
Hi, my 2003 ml270 is having starting problems when warm. Had green flag out but by the time he arrived engine had cooled and started first time. He said change fuel filter which I did and also the air filter.went on holiday and covered 700 miles with no problems until I arrived back in Coventry and then had green flag out again. He started the car by spraying brake cleaner into air intake and it started, but no idea of fault. I think in the past it has had injector fault as seems a bit black around the injectors. Could it be an injector or should I start with crank sensor?
Any help would be great as these hire cars are getting expensive
Also when trying to start the rev counter does move

Not starting hot but fine once cooled down points toward a failing CPS

I was hoping someone would say that, didnt fancy paying out for an injector as I've just spent £500 on rear springs and brake pipes for the mot

Changed seals on 3 pipes and worked but went for a drive to get temp up and again struggled to start after

Change the other 3.

Fuel rail
Fuel filter
2x lift pump
2x high pressure pump

Cheapest (and most common/overlooked) option before you take it to a garage.

Just an update, dropped to garage who checked codes and found camshaft sensor so changed it, still no good. They did a leak off test which has shown one injector leaking a lot so told them to change it, injector cost £149 and £80 so far for diagnosis, hopefully comes our easy but a bit coked up from a previous problem before I had the car. Fingers crossed as that's nearly £1000 this month
