I have a W126 300 SE 1991, I have a strange sound coming from the front passenger side wheel area which sounds like a clunk when you are driving, it happens mainly when you brake and take off. If you bounce the car by pushing the front wing you can hear it as the car goes up and down, but not always!

I tried to have a look but when the car is on the flat part of my drive and you bounce the car it is not as obvious, but when its parked in it space on a slight slope leaning towards the passenger side and bounce the car it more apparent.

I am not sure where to start looking? Any ideas?

Bloke at work had same noise was top strutt nut loose by quite a few turns:D.
Got to be worth a look at the bottom ball joints as they seem a common failure and are pretty cheap, assuming same set up as 210?

Ball joints

I have purchased a pair of lower ball joints as they are very cheap, how easy are they to fit? I have seen a few DIY pages and read about how its quite simple the job is, but is it really that easy on a W126 Merc?

Anyone have a diagram or DIY process guide.
