Hi all, I have tried the search feature, but can't find what I need, so I'm hoping someone can help.
My 2003 c270 has developed a strange, very low, dull vibration. It happens mainly on tick over, but there is something when accelerating too. Its not shake your teeth out vibration, its very hard to feel, but definitely there.
The story goes, I was having hot start issues, where the car was taking longer than i'd like to start, never failed to start, but needed a good 8-10 seconds of cranking. Always fired first flick of the key when cold. I decided to replace the crankshaft sensor (pig of a job for 1 bolt!) I removed the inlet manifold to get at it. Put it all back together and the thing was a nightmare to start, it would just crank for about 60 seconds, before firing. Anyway, I took it all apart again, put the old crank sensor back in, rebuilt and it fired straight away, everytime, so I put it down to a faulty (new) crank sensor. I also replaced the fuel lines and common rail seals as they looked tired and brittle.
Now, I have this vibration and the engine seems noisier.
At first, I thought the worst (valeo rad) as I do have a valeo rad fitted, which I am going to change for peace of mind, but I had the ATF fluid tested for glycol and got the all clear.
Can anyone shed some light for me? Its almost like a slightly unbalanced prop type vibration.
