Supercharged w126 AMG/Brabus

The warning is in his own description :"A hugely expensive car and conversion, in its day... The car runs, but does need some cosmetic work and attention to mechanicals for MOT"

One of the pictures even shows the bonnet not properly shut, what a way to sell such an expensive car.

I would assume very deep pockets and time would be needed to restore this. However it does look manageable and not too far gone.

In other words, one for the collector because it's a money pit....

The supercharger only gives an extra 50bhp ?

Seems odd.

No mention on Brabus's site either of offering supercharger conversions in the early 80's , in fact no mention of them at all.

74bhp - pre 85 they 'only' put out 231BHP, so not bad.

If the engine runs it might be worth buying it for just that......

I guess these become obsolete when the 560 came out. Torque curve might be interesting!

No electric seats. Awful wheels.

If he had AMG verify any conversion, he should have got it in writing and displayed it in the ad.

Where's the AMG speedo ?

Its missing loads of bits. its a breaker... very much doubt that supercharger and associated mixture control bits will be working.

i spoke to the seller about the car he didn't seem helpful with much information or even sending more pictures and he has a price of £5000 in mind which is ambitious.:confused:

£5k

that's steep, unless a previous owner was a doctor!

What are the wheels? Rial knock offs?

My Dad had a V12 coupe as a company car and what a car it was. I think it was on a P plate and he was only in his mid 30's when he got it. The A/C business must have been good in those days.

Sadly my Mum wrote it off, weirdly in a crash with the father of a girl in my class at school.

There is a silver V12 coupe not far from here, think that's a 76 P. I sold mine and got an XJS but didn't really like that. Didn't have it long admittedly but it was actually reliable in the short time I owned it!

I seem to remember a string of Cortina Ghia's after the Jag with a Mitsubishi Sapporro on a T plate of all things. That was a very nice car, very left-field at the time.

Then it was Rover SDI's. V8 S and Vitesse Twin Plenums.

I had a V8 S, with a boxxer manifold and 4 su carbs and velocity stacks, no filters. Sold it 2 years ago to a friend:devil:

Dire. Give me a facelift 500SE anyday.

When it comes to a luxury daily cruiser, I don't think there is anything I would rather have than a nicely sorted 126.
