Hi all,
This is just a quick post to relay my experience regarding replacement of the supercharger pulley bearing. I am fortunate in owing a couple of supercharged amg's. An e55 w211 which has covered 180,000 miles and an slk32 r170 which has covered 101,000 miles. Anyway I'd noticed for some time that the engine bay was quite noisy when I came across a YouTube video explaining how this could be overcome. Basically replacing the bearing in the supercharger pulley. I quickly found out that you cannot get the bearing in this country at all. Mercedes will only sell you a pulley at £700 + vat or a repair kit at £1100 + vat. So I bit bullet and ordered an OEM bearing from an American company on eBay. The bearing took about 5 days to arrive and cost about £100 including customs and p&p. My mechanic fitted it a few days later, what a difference. The engine bay of the e55 is so much quieter now, and the slk bearing had quite a bit of wear on it. So for about £200 in total I hope to have increased the life expectancy of both superchargers rather than possibly have to find £2000 further on when a bearing fails and takes the whole clutch and possibly supercharger with it.
