after my comments on how slow my mates sl129 v6 3.2 18v is, we have done some thinking, and it occured to us that the c32 amg uses the 'same' engine.

we came up with more questions than asnwers however, so has anyone fitted the supercharger from a c class onto an sl? if so any advise wold be apprieiated.

we are hoping to find a smashed up c class so we can swap the whole shebang over, but if we cant, we will trry to sorce parts and fit them to the exsisting engine, so;

is it only the c32 amg that runs a supercharger on the v6 engine, do these run lower comp ratio? are they traditionaly aftercooled or chargecooled as in the later v8's

are the fule pumps different in any way...

has anyone got a smashed c32 they wanna sell?

The SLK32 shares the same engine as the C32. The Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 share the same engine, in a slightly lower state of tune too.

There was a whole engine listed on ebay recently - worth keeping an eye on ebay as they do come up from time to time.

SLK's also had the supercharged option so the SLK32 exists too.

I believe from other threads on the same sort of subject that the gearbox may be different (in terms of handling the additional power). Interesting propostion as the engine is effectively the same.

Not sure about what other changes there are.

Kleemann also did superhcharger conversions for the M112 V6 engine.

Beaten too it by Bobby - I had my response to the query typed when a colleague interupted me!

wow, quick replys...

deffinatly interested in the engine, have messaged them regards other bits.

gearbox may be an issue, will have to make some enquirys.

as previousy disscussed, they are 18V engines! kleeman option seems way too expensive, but i know how these diy things can get well out of hand!

Don`t worry mate, that`s the second time they listed that engine so i don`t think is going anywhere. mercedes benz 3.2 amg compressor ONLY TURBO on eBay (end time 16-May-10 22:23:40 BST) Even try to knock the price, lol

It's simply not worth it and has been discusssed many times before for the M119 & M113 V8s.

stats, what do you mean its not worth it, i expect you mean trying to make a piecmeal compressor conversion, i think i agree, but what do you think to a complete swap over of c32 enginge with compressor setup and ecu?????? please tell me you think it is quite easy and cant understand why everone isnt doing it, and think merc should have done it themselves!!!!

Speak to Olly - he'll tell you what a PITA it is. Like you said - if it were easy everyone would be doing it.

You'd need the gearbox as well as the 320's 722.607 gearbox isn't rated for the Kompressor engine's torque.

ok will do. has he completed a swap, or did he contemplate then abandon the idea?

Similar thread running WRT swapping this engine into a CLK.

Can't see the appeal myself when there's the SL500, SL60 or SL600 out there if more power is what you need.

Much better to sell the SL320 and upgrade :)

Will

the ad on ebay is somewhat misleading, wich is probbably why no sale has been forthcoming.

the message i recieved back was that it is only for the 'turbo' wich i assume means that the 900 quid is to buy the supercharger only, not the engine...

the quest continues.
