Mercedes sell new cars. The buyers of these cars are only concerned about residuals when they come to buy their next new car.
The PX may be sold as a Mercedes Approved Used Car at a MB dealership - their customer is only concerned about residuals when that car is to be PXed.
People have become accustomed to MB lasting 20 years or more, but by then the car is so far from the dealer network I guess that MB just don't care.
My ML is 9 years old and needs the tailgate respraying - £300 - the dealer isn't interested. Then again, I've saved much more than that since buying the car by not going to the dealer for servicing so I'm not moaning too much…….
The issue is not about "people are use that MBs last 20 years... That might have been in the 60s? This is not about the paint, this is not about the steel, this is made in purpose.
Using the dealer or not has NOTHING to do with the car rotting from the inside out. What would the dealer do to stop your car rotting from the inside out? Truly? Are you serious there trying to put the "I don't use the dealer for years and it save me money"
The rot inside out is made for it/ calculated for it and for the simplest reason, buy new car every five years and we do not care about you even of you spend 35,000 on a new one 8 years ago as it will totally rot. This to me is a shame! You call that "customers care?" I don't think so. Not at all...
Some other manufacturers cars indeed rot, sometimes, but to no one surprise most MB do after a short period of time since the 70s worse after the 80s and so on...
Read the above: Some and Most...
How come only one car company is affected with this? Some corrosion holes even start inside the car where there was never ever any water/ wash or what ever liquid into it and this is Not rust, its corrosion, inside out.
This doesn't surprise you at all? No? Well, there is not much else i can say to you and certainly going or not to the dealer has absolutely nothing to do with it
