Hi there,

TA announcements in my COMAND keep popping up even though I've pressed the TA OFF key while on radio. Is there any way other than pressing the Mute key on the display?. I want to see traffic announcement through TMC but NOT something that interrupts my music!!
Thanks experts.

Hmmm I believe it is version two (digits keyboard on the right hand side of the screen and on the left you have map, phone, satnav, etc.... keypad

OK, I think you have a row of 'soft' buttons down either side of the screen? If so, then one button should show 'TA ON' or 'TA OFF'. Now, a bit of perverse logic here, because the button labelled 'TA ON' actually turns it off and the one labelled 'TA OFF' turns it on. try that and see what happens.

Yea, that's exactly what I do.... press the TA ON and it becomes TA OFF, but momentarily as it will come back again interrupting what I am listening to. I wonder if there is a way to unable it permanently?

No No - its backwards  - it needs to display TA ON for it to actually be off - meaning press the button to turn TA ON!!

welcome to Mercedes!! :wallbash:

Yep. Make sure it says TA ON then TA will in fact be off. The logic being that the display tells you what the button will do if pressed rather than the current setting.

That is exactly the same logic that applies to the Sports/Economy slider on the auto gearbox.

Except when it's on!!

Depends on the model age. MB switched the logic on later models. On mine the a/c is on when the light is on.

Gotta love those Germans!

I was going to say that!! my A/C is on when the light is off..... never mind, these are nice cars. My CLK convertible is the adoration of my street!.

On the 124 and CLK the Aircon is on when the light is off. On the SLK on when the light is lit. Have to say it confused me when we first got the SLK.

Wonder when they changed it? My car is Oct 04, but is model year 2005 and the a/c light is on when the a/c is off.

I can kind of live with that - it's warning me the a/c is off, but what I think is really stupid is the red lamp displayed when the heating/ventilation is set to auto - it means there's a red lamp, which should be reserved for warnings, showing when it's in its normal operating mode.

Display logic of function LED in the AC button (7)
For vehicles up to 31.5.05, the function LED is off when the
refrigerant compressor is on.
For vehicles as of 1.6.05, the function LED is on when the
refrigerant compressor is on.
