Tablet-Style Screen

Had a test drive in a B-Class the other day - one of the possible replacements for my W169 A-Class. I know the tablet-style screen on the dashboard has divided opinion and I am not sure I could get used to it.

Would be helpful if current owners who have this (new A-Class, GLA, C-Class etc) could offer a real-world opinion of the thing in use. Is it a distraction,or do you just get used to it?

I have yet to read anyone who actually owns a Merc with these screens complaining about it.

All the comments are from people who do not own one of these cars. - I myself, cant see what the issue is. having a floating screen allows the dash to be more standard rather than shaped just for the screen.

Ive got tablet screen in A class and fixed in ML.

Absolutely no issues with the tablet screen - the new ML (GLE) has the tablet, and i'd hapilly own one of those.

The regulations are forcing the screens up higher and higher, so I guess this is a way of getting an extra little higher without the whole dashboard coming higher and restricting the view (certainly on the GLE)

Its definitely a line of sight thing. Early attempts at high level integration into the dash gave rise to the BMW 6 series dash board where the info screen dominated the dash to the detriment of the main gauges/speedo/rev counter. "Awkward " is probably the best that could be said about it. :o

Like many here I really can't see the issue.

We have a 62 plate B Class and love the layout. It's a different concept over all other manufacturers.

Many people saying they should fold down electrically when you turn the ignition off. Why??? So it looks nice when you're NOT in the car??? What's the point, just leave it there. Electrical retraction is just another thing to go wrong over time

I personally like the fixed tablet screen. Most that don't just don't buy one.
