Yes I'm guessing they are searching public area's looking for Rambo Photos with O/Us getting waved around !Not that I've noticed. Maybe related to specific issues in West Yorks?
Unless you leave your social media profiles open to the public, there's nothing for them to see anyway without getting a valid warrant to access it.
Hi, I'm new here and only just, today, have been given access to this part of the forum.
As a longtime Shooter, of 50+ years, .270, .222 .22 Hornet, .22 long. 12 bore etc. etc. But now just Shotguns and Air Rifles.
I just wanted to say on my last Shotgun renewal, my Firearms Officer here, in West Yorkshire made no bones about the fact, that any photos going on to Social Media sites of weapons ( note, weapons, not Guns or Rifles), would be looked at extremely seriously and would have an enormous repercussions come the next renewal date.
Any of you UK guys feeling any heat from your F.O.s?
I've noticed it's becoming harder and harder on applications.
SCs now harder to obtain than FCs from 15 - 20 years ago!
I think it was to stop strangers seeing that you have Guns in your house.I have a Section 1 FAC and I am a member of several UK shooting forums (similar to this one) and have posted photos of my firearms, as did most of the other members. These are open forums and anyone can access the posts and photos (same as on this forum).
Not sure what the FET officer who visited your house meant, possibly talking about people 'bragging' on TikTok etc?
I am with the Met FET and I am thinking of applying for a one-to-one variation soon, so will ask them then.
