Hi, I'm new to this forum so apologies if i'm in the wrong section.I'm a new owner of a 2003 C230 Komressor.I'd only had the car a couple of days when i had the car on tickover it started to misfire slightly and the check engine light came on.If i re-start the car it drives superbly, but if i let it idle for 1 minute it starts to misfire slightly.
I had the car put on a mates diagnostic machine, and it came up with a misfire on cylinder 2 - with the message SENSOR ROTOR ADAPTATION. Does anyone on here know what this means, and what i may have to do to rectify the fault?

I think you can ignore the message as it doesn't sound right, but he misfire on cylinder 2 is accurate. Check the HT lead connections and coil.

Thanks for the reply, but that's excactly what the message says, does anyone have any idea as to what it means?

It is to do with the crankshaft sensor adaption. Don't worry about it too much. Get the misfire sorted first. What engine is in your car? Is it a M111 or a M271?

271 engine.

check for water ingress down the plug hole

There is a rubber breather pipe that splits under the air filter box that may, if its bad enough give a misfire on no. 1 or 2 cylinder. You have to take the air filter box off to get to it to check and that s a bit of a t**t to do as there is a metal clip at the back that is quite inaccessible. If you are not sure then I would suggest running it into your usual mechanic as it comes off with the engine ecu etc as well.
See item 122 on parts catalogue.
