Does Any Body Know Of A Solution To The Temp Display Breaking Up,on A W210and How Do You Get The Instrument Cluster Out.

Do you have pixels missing? What do you mean by breaking up? Do you have the new cluster?

I would like to resurrect this post - I have identical problem in E240 - ignored it up to now!

What is the problem and can it be fixed.....cheaply!!

Cheers

Paul

New Cluster. Just got my done. MB Claim that mine was an isolated problem. Which I know is not. On my new cluster the clock and temp display are slightly different in colour to the middle one.

around £600 to replace.

Thank god for the preface lift W202! Its a separate module that just plugs into the rear of the cluster.Cost £40 from memory.

I'm not using my Merc (2001 W210) as often which makes me think its a use related issue.

Segments in the temperature display have failed together with some pixels in the gear display next to the clock.

I took in on a long run last weekend (480 miles) and after 2 hours or so all the pixels in the gear display had returned to normal and some in the temp display.

So my feeling is that if I wished to fix the problem leaving the cluster powered for 6 hours or so should fix it but for the moment I'm okay with living with it.

I am afraid not. It will progressively disappear. I had no clock, then no gear display then no temp

Good luck

How much were the parts?? - I've assumed £600 includes MB dealer labour

I paid

Cluster £330.44+VAT
Labour £78.40+VAT

Quoted around £600, but as you can see it is less than that.

New cluster is already dimming, though. In the process of sorting it out.
