Hi all!
Took off the front bumber to dismantle the fog light. Unplugged the temperature sensor with some difficulty but managed it in the end. Putting everything back together, I discovered that the temperature gauge indicated -38° Celsius which is rather cold for a month of June despite the recent weather

Have not got back to check the plug and wiring, but do I have to reset something to get the sensor working again (it could also have decided to pack up and die though)?
Thanks for any info and tips

I think that it defaults to that if it cannot read the sensor....

Hi,
When my external temp display done this it was rectified by a new sensor it is approx. £10 from the dealer.
Try unplugging it again and spraying some switch cleaner on the plug and sensor pins and plug it in and unplug it several times, and try it again, if this does not solve it, replace the sensor.

Well timed - I'm swapping my foglights this weekend :thumb:

And replacing a clutch pedal in a Golf.

Good job it's really sunny and hot!

Yes, getting new crystal glass fog light. Ordered but not yet arrived. Will check and clean all the connections. If a no go, then I will go for new sensor. I have found that the non working sensor is creating a certain havoc in the automatic climate control. Cold air even at night with cool temperatures outside. However, nice and perfect weather for fiddling around the car.

I don,t think that this sensor has anything to do with the A/C, later cars it does but not this age.
The A/C relies on a different sensor for external air temp.
To prove this, with ignition on press and hold the rest button on the A/C control unit for approx, 10 seconds, then using the - and + to select, 2 on the menu is external air temp.

Sensor fixed :)! Just the plug had fallen off :wallbash:
