2001 W208 CLK320 Coupe Almandine-Black. (Looks Purple-ish).
Hi.

I have the opportunity of getting some Staggered AMG III !8" Wheels/Tyres for my w208/320 which already has 18" Staggered AMG IV's but are peeling.

I checked on the Fitment List gratefully provided and the Fronts are OK, 8.5J-ET30 but the Rears are not on the List, those being 9.5J-ET33.

Now the Offset should be ok, it's just the Wheel Width, 1" wider.... Would this be a major issue???

Thanks in advance.

They look like SL or E class rims/offset Bill.... if so they'll go straight on.. here's my old 500 from many moons ago with SL staggered 18's sitting on H&R springs.... I know its a 209 but I'd of thought shouldn't be "that" much different...

Thanks.... They look awesome!!! (Yes they are off an SL).
I know the tyres that ate on them now are a bit too big but the ones I have on the AMG IV's now will fit no problem as they are the size recommended on the Link for Alloy Wheels Direct. (225/40 & 255/35).

Why'd you sell such a lovely car?! That is the one thing the W208 was, and that is properly Pillarless!

As you can see, my wheels are properly nasty! Not so much Kerbing but just peeling like crazy! I've been quoted £312.00 to get them refurbed properly and Powder Coated.

What do you guys reckon, get these refurbed or go for the III's?

I’ve got those on my Clk, love them! I may look into those lowering springs although mine is already factory lowered on AMG suspension

Thanks for all your input chaps - very much appreciated! :thumb:

If those are genuine staggered 18's i.e as seen on the C32 C55 and CLK55, I'd keep them as they're worth good money refurbed and are also rare in 18"

Hi.
You are referring to the ones I have on at the moment? If you are all I know is that they came off a CLK55 AMG.... But I think they were refurbed badly at one stage, or just not really looked after - like the rest of the car when I bought it...!!!
I bought it as a 'Trade-In' off a Dealer and boy what a state it was in. I think the guy was a Mechanic so mechanically it was well-maintained but I don't think he removed his work clothes or washed his hands when he got in it! And he must have been a big guy because even the Headlining was black above where he sat. Luckily he kept the paintwork reasonably clean, but there wasn't a stitch of polish on it.

Believe me it didn't look like it does now! (Except the Wheels)! I don't think they were ever cleaned properly and the Brake Dust just destroyed the finish - a lot of the naked Aluminium is showing.....

But thanks, I'll take what you say on-board..... :)

A close-up of the state of them!!

I'd probably refurb the genuine oem AMG"s they imo suit the car nicely.

Keep those Bill and refurb... a lovely wheel when looking mint.... also get the "off roader" lowered...

... also get the "off roader" lowered...

Like it...lol. You haven't seen the Humps on my road - ridiculous! Also I tried lowered once - could have been the type, but just didn't like the ride! They last 2 days! I was lucky I got a refund - how I don't know...???
Just shows you, no harm in asking.... :D

I used to have a Honda Coupe - looked like a "Hotrod"!

I have some (now knackered) 17x10J on the back of my broken S210. I believe they were et35 if I can remember and they were a spot on fitment! The lip of the wheel was almost proud of the arch but probably only around 1/2 a mm. Have slightly stretched tyres (255/45R17) and plenty of clearance.
I’d say you would be fine with 18x9.5j :thumb:

If they re genuine then i'm surprised they have corroded as much as they have. However, if genuine I would most certainly have them refurbished as my personal view is that they suit your car very nicely and £312 is a very fair price :thumb:

Thanks all.... I've decided to give the III's a miss and more than likely refurb mine. :thumb:
