Tesla model 3 performance

You perhaps are not aware that Tesla China recalled 285,000 cars due to autopilot issues back in June 2021. "Driver error - as per usual" therefore is a rather brusque conclusion to make.
The 're-call' was a software update pushed out making a slight change to the way active cruise control was switched on and off... this was a good few months before this 'incident'... The logs from the Model Y shown in the video highlighted that the vehicle’s accelerator pedal was depressed deeply for an extended period of time, even reaching 100% at one point - the driver did not press the brakes during the incident. Typical error of pressing the accelerator instead of the brake - the only reason it made news is because it was a Tesla...

Even with active-cruise on - any input by the driver ALWAYS overrides this.

Although, in the case of the Tesla crash in China, the YouTube clip seems to suggest that the driver panicked and hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, which is in fact more common that you think:

This is what the outcome of the investigation also showed.

Oh dear. What a shame. Never mind
😁
Queues stretching for hours show what it's really like owning a Tesla at Christmas

Unintended acceleration..started with the big Audi scandal in the 80s which turned out to be people hitting the accelerator instead of the brake. Mostly the same ever since.

Sometimes there have been other factors. I had my own scare when aged 19 in the late 80s I drove my parents 205 GTI up Putney Hill. Took my foot off the gas only for the car to continue accelerating swiftly in 3rd. Gas pedal was caught in the red carpet of the 205. Manual car so I could just press clutch and flip into neutral but scary for a bit.

Had exactly the same problem in my second car, a 405 (cooking model 1.6) - cold (below zero) mornings usually resulted in a stuck accelerator cable, I had more than one white knuckle ride to the nearest T-junction absolutely flat out

Back in the day (1979-80) the throttle linkage of my SAAB 99 Turbo ran up behind the dashboard and then over to the passenger side.

If I should let a mate have a shot, I could pull on said linkage with the back of my foot to alarming effect!

What a larf...

What that story tells us that a few Tesla owners have more money than sense. They were particularly lacking in the latter department for leaving it until Christmas day to charge up. It has little do do with the fuel type and more to do with the owners lack of planning. As a petrol car owner I wouldn't go out on Christmas day expecting to find fuel, I'd fill it up before hand.

+1

So, I came up against one of these yesterday out in the wild. I was waiting at a set of lights on a duel carriageway (sic), and it drew up alongside. My C63 is tuned, and the tyres were warm as I’d already been enjoying myself. He gave it some beans as the lights changed because I noticed the front of his car leap into the air in my peripheral vision. He probably got ahead of me by two or three feet, but then the biturbo was into her stride. It was pretty much neck and neck to 60, but then I had the legs on him and I just continued to pull away. About a mile to the next set of lights for a second go. I actually found him less of a challenge second time. Maybe they heat soak a bit? I’ve no idea. Anyway, Her Ladyship held her head high. The M177 is an absolute masterpiece.
Similar experience first lights he probably hit his throttle quicker than you did… they are fast off line and run out of steam quickly

Second time over sounds like you was more focused 😂

You running PS4S tyres ? I find they help our c63 put the power down

I expected it to murder me at the get go and me to be playing catch up. It didn’t go like that at all. Maybe I anticipated the lights better, maybe I was lucky. If you look at YouTube they are devastating off the line usually
ye and in the same videos you have the c63 with the super sport tyres in the cold
