The New TT

Does the seller realise that you can buy a real TT for <£2k these days?

I've always wondered who'd buy something like that, and have now found out. Someone who can't even fit in it.

I'm beginning to doubt Darwinian natural selection.

Oh dear. I just did a little bit of sick into my mouth..

Cheers,

Gaz

And just what exactly is wrong with that?

A fine copy.

Most people couldn't tell the difference...

Lol

A few recollections..............

Paul Banham manufactured quite a few "body conversion" kits, eg

The Sprint - a Frogeye Sprite body on an old style Mini floorpan,

The X99 (later X21) the Audi TT (both convertible and coupe versions) on a Metro. (TTs may be cheap now, but not when Banham introduced them, even though the TT itself at first was only a Golf in a dress...............)

Several other for the Metro, not necessarily copying any particular model

The Speedster - a James Dean style Porsche on a Skoda Estelle/Rapide floorpan (don't forget that particular Skoda's rally successes before commenting)

The XSS (I think, IIRC) - a set of body panels which IMHO did make the Jaguar XJS look good

A Ford RS200 rally car body set, but I can't recall what donor car it used.

You may think some of these to be a bit of a joke, but he was producing these 12-15 years ago, and being body conversions, they did not need to go through SVA testing, which had been introduced not long before.

EDIT - On re-reading my post, it looks like I'm a fan of the Banham range. Er, No, but I have visited Kitcar shows for many years, and you pick up bits of trivia along the way!

That really is one of the most awful looking cars I have ever had the displeasure of seeing
