The White Dog

Can't be bothered to read all 15 pages of this ...

Did you have to sue the little old lady and the disabled man whose dog died to repair your CLK63 in the end ?

Did they have to pawn their wedding rings to pay for your new bumper ?

Hey Howard :)

Wahahaha... you funny bugger! :D:D

In short, no, I decided not to pursue the dog owner to recovery the costs of the damage.

The girl/ woman (never did find out how old she was) walking the dog, was the dog owner's carer.

Dog owner didn't have pet insurance, so there was no chance of my insurance company recovering costs that way.

The dog owner (Alex, 32) has had a tough time of things so it didn't feel right to demand money from him.

So it will go down as a claim on my policy. No claims is protected though.

Wow!..... that is a beaut!

I reckon I'll just get rid of the CLK63 and get one of these badboys!!

I love the way the lines of the body flow together like water.

LOL!!!

:D

Yes it is really quiet difficult to spot where the kit ends and the car starts. Almost indistinguishable from a real 6R4.

Just given the car its 75th application of wax.

Well, not much else to do while it's sitting in the garage

Monday is the day the bodyshop should receive my new bumper.

I'm not holding my breath, but I am hopeful.

I have also ordered new fog light housings, new fog lamps and a new grille.

Thought I'd treat the car as the fog lamp lenses and grille have tiny stone chips/ pits in them.

Seeing as a new bumper is going to be fitted, I thought I'd freshen up the whole front end. No sense in putting a new bumper on and installing fog lamp lenses and a grille that have small chips in them.

I hear that tonight is when our marvellous councils will be throwing down the first dose of salt/ grit. How wonderful.

I was hoping to get the car sorted before they started trashing the roads, but there you go.

I'll update further once I have word that the bodyshop have my new bumper and ask me to take my car to them.

Ok, it seems the curtain is about to go up..

Dealership has received my new bumper and the other bits I ordered (fog lamps etc).

Last week, John at the bodyshop said that he wants to look over the new bumper when it arrives to make sure it is ok before asking me to bring the car in.

He was off today but he is in tomorrow.
So I am expecting a call from him tomorrow morning to let me know if all is well.

If the bumper is ok, I will take my car in asap tomorrow morning.

I have also received an email from Darren at the dealers to say the bumper has arrived and that I can bring my car in when I'm ready.

I may be at the mercy of the bodyshop's availability but I stressed to them that I have been waiting 3 weeks already and that I am looking to bring my car in tomorrow so they can get to work on the car.

I don't anticipate any problems and hope to take the car to them tomorrow.

The dealers have agreed/ offered to keep my car safely in their workshop until the time comes when the bodyshop are ready to install the new bumper.

I did mention to the Darren at the dealers that I would prefer that they fit the new bumper and components once the bodyshop have painted it. But apparently the bodyshop has to do it because it is insurance work and part of the insurance claim/ estimate :dk:

However, Darren said he is confident things will go smoothly. I also asked him to stay ontop of them to make sure a good jobs done.

I have also typed up a list for John at the bodyshop of things to be aware/ mindful of when working on the car. I also have a copy for David & Darren at the dealership.

That way, there can be no misunderstanding about my expectations.

So.. the time is fast approaching when I find out whether Maidstone Mercedes bodyshop has sorted itself out or whether it is still very much Crusty the Clown & Co!!

I'll keep you updated.

good luck i hope all goes well i can wait too see the finished result

I recently saw a Renault Master with the front bumper on upside down. I wonder...

Best of Luck Rash,

Hope yours is hassle free and comes back perfect (fingers crossed).

Hey Rob :)

Thanks bud, I appreciate your support too :thumb:

Pretty nervous time for me

I'm keeping an eye out on your thread too.. I'm hoping they get their act together and get yours done.

Ok,

John at the bodyshop checked the new bumper to make sure it was all ok - which it was.

I contacted Darren at the dealers to let them know that I'd be bringing the car in.

I took the car in and was greeted by David (after sales manager) and Darren. They also arranged for John from the bodyshop to be with us too.

I handed my typed notes to John and also gave a copy to Darren & David.

John inspected the car to assess its condition before they start work.

Pretty short inspection really. lol :D

Car noted as immaculate and he commented on the great condition of the car and lack of stone chips :)

As mentioned before, Darren & David were happy to keep the car in their workshop to save worrying about the car being kept at the bodyshop, which is next door.

The current bumper will be removed in the workshop and the new bumper will also be fitted in the workshop.

They will install the new bits I have ordered (fog lamps, grille etc) onto the new bumper and leave the original bits attached to the old bumper, ready for me to collect when the car is done.

I have asked Darren to give the car a once-over check while it is in the workshop and I have told them to change anything that needs doing (bushes etc).

So far so good.

I am very grateful to Darren & David at the dealers for going out of their way to make sure the car is safe and looked after.

John at the bodyshop is confident things will go smoothly - and Darren & David will be overseeing the work, making regular checks during the process.

John has told me that the car should be done by the end of the week. He says it may well be before, but would rather say the end of the week.
He said he doesn't want to rush it and wants to get it right first time.

I am happy with this and agree.

So my garage is empty at the moment.. which feels weird :(

But I will take advantage of this and give the garage a good hoover and clean.

I am much happier knowing that the ccar will be safely in the workshop and not loitering outside until the work is done.

As mentioned, I am also taking advantage of the car being in the workshop by having the guys check for anything that may need replacing.

So there are a couple of up-sides too. :)

Got my fingers crossed for you bud!

Cheers bud, much appreciated. :thumb:

I think the guys at the dealers could see the nervousness in me  but they know my car AND know what I'm like, so I'm sure they will look after it.

It's just down to the paintwork really, but the guys will be overseeing that too so I'm hopeful that things will go smoothly.

I'm a lot happier with the work being done in the workshop too. So the Bodyshop only have the paint to worry about.
