I'm happy you've found a garage that gives you good service. I'm not so sure what it is that I've proved though but hey ho ...

I'll repeat, noone has given a bad report of the garage and if the car is reported in such a way that it might seem bad then that report would appear to emanate from the Ebay ad itself and not from here.

Yes, any prospective buyer should view the car before bidding and I'll be very happy should someone from here buy it and report their restoration of it, for all to read

I'm not sure which meaning you're attempting to ascribe to me but, either way, you are offensive.

You set out to suggest that this forum had maligned the garage, which allegation I refuted and then you went on to praise the vehicle, citing some (unstated) engineering qualifications as evidence of competence.

If, indeed, you wish to induce further interest in this automobile, I would respectfully suggest that you tell us all what it is that you saw when you inspected it and refrain from indulging in personal insults. Thank you.

Anyway, this car has been on ebay before. The original advert had some earlier pics of the car before it fell into a rusty heap, I guess they were unsuccessful selling it the first time.

I think Dormans Garage should take another look at their advert, before the are done by Trading Standards for misdescription.

A 1978 SL would not be fitted with:

5 speed auto box.

Adjustable steering column (electric rake/reach)

Airbags.

ABS.

Computer (driver information system)

Electronic stability.

This is the first time i've read this thread and was just wondering who had rattled paris2463's cage? Fair enough to defend a garage you know and trust but i detected no insinuation of any wrong doing by the garage and as for being quite personal towards rob77, there was no need at all. Have the mods seen this behaviour and acted on it? I hope so. If all he wants to do with his retirement is arbitrarily pick arguments with innocent bystanders then he should frequent teen-oriented chat rooms not intellectual forums such as this.

The car must be completely done in. As Wobbly said, the spec is wrong for a start...........

Dodgy springs to mind as even the most rotten SLs of this era is worth more than £2k unless totally without any rescue value.
