Is that you Karl ? ;)

Be carefull, this is the guy I brought my first merc from, a W210 E230, it was advertised a Kompressor, when I got there one of the first things he said they never made a Kompressor E class this age, if I had not travelled all day from Kingston upon Thames with a monster hangover I would have been tempted to beat him down a bit for it, so all may not be as it seems

I cannot believe that the UK Merc importer at the time would have sold a car without electric front windows, so maybe it was one of those cars that went to Asia and then came back unsold due to the Asian financial crises at the time.

Love the seller's reply to the question from the South African chap.

It's weird that people feel this way ....

Mine is on it's tenth owner ( me ) , i've had it for 5 years now , so that means that in the first 12 years of it's life it had 9 owners ..

Got 150k on it at the moment and is a 'almost' poverty spec model , no aircon but it does have leather .... less gizmos, means less to go wrong , the only thing that doesn't work on my car is the bulb behind the foglight switch , and thats only becaus i haven't got around to changing it :o , theres not many 17 year old cars that everything works on ....

Does this mean mine is a bad car ? I don't think so , other than a few niggles , it's never let me down , i had the rear subframe done last year , but that was really the only 'big' expense i've had ...

I'm very satisfied with the car , could do with a bit more power , fair enough , but i don't think that the number of owners is any indication ...

I can see where you're coming from , if the car has changed hands often , this would seem to indicate that something is not right with the car and it is being sold on , once the problem has been discovered ?

As i said , mine had had 9 owners before me , so i should have run a mile, or at the least have got rid of it by now ? but i haven't and it hasn't let me down so far ....

I certainly wouldn't let number of owners put me off, or a lack of service history ( on a car my age ) , my car has minimal service history , i always work on the premise that you can get a feel for the car and the condition of it , by the way the owner seems ...

Howard, I meant for the price.

Nothing especially wrong with the car (even though it's red) but I just think for the price one could do better.

I'm always wary of private listings auctions where the bidders are hidden. It's a shill bidders wet dream & judging from the bidding pattern I'd say there's some of it going on with this auction.

Lol !!

Sorry , i grabbed the wrong end of the stick there :o

See what you mean about the hidden ID's .....

i think my SEC had a fair few owners too... 8 in memory... never puts me off and getting a tax disc can sometimes mean an owner has to be changed... i find a lot of owner changes are for paperwork reasons... husband to wife, personal to company, trade in that the dealer puts in his name for tax etc etc..
