Do you have to be tuned into Classic FM for TMS to work, and does it work automatically or do i need to select Dynamic routing?

Depends on the COMAND you ahve. Looking at you sig the 209 should have the COAMND-APS dvd based system?

Just select dynamic to get live re-routing dpending on traffic.

But you must have the correct version navigation disc that enables this function IIRC ver >6 should be fine, current ver is 11

I have updated the disc to Ver10 2008/09
Will it reroute automatically?

Then, yes, with Dynamic mode selcted

Just a note, if your car is older that early 2006, then you may find the traffic jams are on the wrong side of the road. If so, the AGW in the COMAND needs a 'flash update' (done by dealer or independant with star diagnosis with a reasonably new version on it)
