To all my CLS 320 CDI owners help me out

I am currently in the process of looking for a new car as you can see from my previous post. I found a 2008 CLS 55,000 on the clock with Memory package, command, linguatronic,CD changer, Maple wood interior heated front seats, full service history. Now I have a few questions if any one can answer.

1) What exactly is command is it blue tooth, dvd player all in one?
2) What are common problems the cls 320cdi 2008 suffers from?
3) Is the mileage considered high for that REG
4) How does Iridium silver look

Hi,command is bluetooth compatable but you will need a phone cradle/tele pre-wiring(if the car hasn't already got it),dvd player only works when car is stationary,55k on a 41/2 year old car is average(on the low side for a diesel)i love iridium silver on cls's(look at my album photos to see mine although it's a petrol)there have been 1 or 2 issues with the 320cdi engine & i'm sure some of the owners that have had issues will post a reply on here soon but overall it's a good strong engine/autobox.

I agree with Steve. Overall, the CLS is an excellent car. The 320cdi V6 does have a few known faults, but at 2008 may not be an issue for your car, and certainly if you DID have the front bearing issue, MB would repair FOC as they did with mine which is a couple of years older.

Unlike ***, I've had no problems with the 7g autobox and love the way it works. Great car and excellent in almost any colour. Silver and black are my two favourites though.

With the telephone pre-wiring there's a thingy in the centre storage bin that a phone cradle clips into - but the cradle is specific to the phone, so you have to make sure you get the correct cradle. They can be horribly expensive from MB etc - or very cheap on eBay! I have an old Nokia 6300, and got my cradle on eBay for £15.

you can buy a bluetooth cradle to connect any bluetooth phone as well

How have I missed this one.

I love the CLS and the way it drives.

The plus....

The engines refinement, power and economy. Performance and economy, its awesome.

The bad, the engines bad design features namely the leaking turbo seals that leak oil onto the swirl flap motor. There is a solution for this by a modifcation in the engine section. A few have noted engine bearing issues. Big bill. Quite a few have noted a valve block failure in the box, over a grand to fix this. Sometimes the turbo actuator motor goes, this can be refurbed but most make you buy a whole new turbo.

Cars are nice to drive, and look on eBay or here for the Viseoo for the phone or the HFP cradel if the car has prewire, but the COMAND in the newer ones has bluetooth IIRC

Iridium silver is a great colour, but black is nicer on a CLS.

Hi Guys

I'm new to the forum and hoping you might be able to help. I've just bought a 2005 e320 cdi sport and also just bought the black Bluetooth puck in the earlier posts photos model no. B6 787 5877 as I already have the telephone pre wiring in the centre console. I attached this and managed to pair with my iPhone 4 and everything worked great first time however next time I came to use it a week later suddenly the sound was no longer coming from the cars speakers but just faint sound from command unit itself! Phone is still paired and phone contact still download. Have I just hit a wrong button somewhere?

Any help would be much appreciated. Don't fancy cost of taking it to a dealer to sort out.

The CLS is a great comfy motor. Had mine since March and nearly done 10k already. if you are looking at a 08 car, it could be pre/post facelift. The grill is the best way to tell, 4 slashes on pre facelift, 2 slashes on post facelift.

If the one you are looking at is post facelift, the command is also upgraded to newer version at the same time. Command is basically a Satnav unit. Bluetooth is standard will pair with most phone without cradles etc.

If your car have media interface there should be a port in the glovebox, and should includes 3 different leads for ithings/mp3 etc.

Some people have problems with 320 cdi engines, but as bpsorrel said, 08 should be fine (touch wood my one is an 08 car).

Well with any second hand cars, check everything works.

i ended up buying the CLS 58 plate and I love it to bits touch wood all is fine and it stays that way.
