Wifey's W245 is off to Merc on 13-Dec for the 4th service. Not sure what the collective view is on flushing the engine? It's a B180CDi and I know it's mounted a funny way round.....good or bad idea? Or, do Merc do this anyway?? I know my old Mitsubishi they used to do it during the service anyway at the main-dealer....

Cheers,
Dan.

i think the MB stealer will just suck out the oil. as far as i know they dont flush it

IF THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS AND THE CORRECT GRADE USED- UNNECESSARY IMHO. Exception to the rule might be an older car with neglected lubrication history.

It's all on-time at dealer - and I guess there's a lot in there unlike my Audi which makes do on half the oil!!

Cheers,
Dan.

And there's me thinking this was going to be an informative post about saving water...

:p

I use flush sometimes. I tend to use it if the car has gone way past service time.

If it has been run on diesel specific oil then a flush is probably unnecessary, if however it has been run on petrol engine oil hen a flush would be desirable.

For the additional £6 or so the dealer will charge, it's probably worth it.
