For my Birthday my wife bought me a PDA with Akron GPS mount. With the PDA I had the last version of Tomtom with speed camera detector put on and the latest AA navigation.
I spent the weekend in South wales and drove down using the Tomtom, I found the tomtom excellent, clear speed camera warnings, even mobile ones were mentioned, the voice activated directions were great and on the screen there were clear directions with a green marker showing which direction to travel coming up to road islands, junctions etc. The only problem was around Merthyr where there is a new road and according to tomtom I was ploughing through fields, it soon picked me up again on the old system and I never got lost once. A new version of Tomtom is coming out in July I believe but the camera warnings system will be an extra buy.

On the way home this morning I used the AA navigator, not impressed at all, poor voice directions had me coming off junctions too early and twice I had to retrace my steps. The screen which can be used in landscape or portrait (can't do this on tomtom) did not give clear directions either. It also shows to much info on surrounding roads and towns The only plus with the AA is its up to date.

Anyone have any views or is it because its the first time I have used the AA version, is there a download for the speed camera positions for the AA?

TTG v on-line route planners

I haven't compared other in-car systems, only on-line route planners.
I want to travel from HOME to SW7 2RP via EN5 5PG, avoiding the London Congestion Charge Zone.
The RAC on-line route planner took me THROUGH the CC Zone.
Viamichelin didn't recognise EN5 5PG.
The AA route planner worked correctly.
TTG worked correctly.

Edit:- The AAnavigator site lists SpeedCare as a companion product.
