Does anyone have any experience of using non MB branded touch up paint? My car is Iridium Silver?

Hi,
I know I've been using some other brand. Don't remember brand but will check tonight when I get back home. Works great on obsidian black.

halfords one is normally a good match on silver

Is it worth it though for the cost of a colour pen from MB , matched to your VIN ?

its a very new car IMHO, might be worth getting a smart repair done to be safe.

get it from halfords.. the touch up pen has a pin on the end so its much easier to apply.
The MB ones have a massive brush on the end, the size you could decorate a house with...

Hi PRC. I could do with knowing what you're using too (I have obsidian black paint). Thanks :)

I've used MB touch up paint before...not the best match and as jaymanek says the brush is large enough to paint my house:crazy:. Someone has recomended paints4u.com. Anyone had any products from them?

That's ok if you can get the damn lid off without breaking the pin or pulling it out. Be careful with it. I ended up having to use the brush, but with a very small dab and looking through a magnifying glass!

The colour match was probably better than my skills at trying to remove rust from, prime, colour, then fill then lacquer, a rusty stone chip less than 1mm across.

I've got Brilliant Silver - anyone used Halfords paint and found it a good match?

I've heard using a can, spraying into the cap, then using a paint bruch is an effective method.

the touch up was spot on in 744 silver

The Merc brush is too thick so get a thin artists sable brush and use that. Only costs a couple of £. The paint does start to dry quickly when you use a thin brush.

dont think halfords keep all the colors but searched online for touchup paints and found this place which has all the original merc colour codes www.zakparts.com

Lovely - thanks for that.

So what does the "SealAct" blending solution do??

I not more than a sort of paint thinner that you wipe over after painting. it smooths out the over paint so that you can get a smooth even finish. Never used it TBH, just t-cut and afterwards sonus sfx-1, 2 and 3 with machine.:D
