My old man has a c180 2003 model and is about to put a towbar on. Does he wire the electrics in to the car in the normal manner ie scotchlok onto the wires leading to the rear light clusters ?

Someone was telling me he needed a £25 gismo to go somewhere to stop the trailer interfering with the ecu.

Cars are getting far too complicated nowadays :(

You will need a by-pass relay.Take the feed from the rear sam, fuse 17 I think.Put a 16amp line fuse in the lead to the relay. You need the relay to stop the bulb out warning. All the wiring instructions should be with the relay. Not a hard job

I have rightly or wrongly ordered a relay now, better safe than sorry. Anyone know what coloour wires are for indicators and brake lights etc on a 03 c180 ?

I need clarification where I can get a switched live in the boot of this car. Anyone able to help please.

Fuse 17 as mentioned above is blank

A spade connecter goes into the live side of fuse holder 17 and an inline fuse is used to the relay. If you look at the bulb holders you will see the wiring colours. To be honest if you are not sure it would be best taken to an auto electrician and let him wire it up for you.
