Hope someone may have an idea about this: This a.m., noticed a trail of Xmission fluid (about 2 oz.) under my 2001 SLK, with 17k miles on it. It started at the front of the garage, and ran to where I stopped the car. I jacked up the car and ran engine, no leaks. I then ran the car down the road, and returned to garage, no leaks. I have done nothing to the Xmission. Anyone have any ideas?

Power steering fluid??? Has the car recently been serviced?? Maybe they have overfilled either the box or the PAS reservoir? Check to see that the cap over the dipstick tube is in place.... There will prob only be a cap and NOT a dipstick as Merc tend to not fit dipsticks, so you have to use the stealer...

These can leak from a couple of places
1. Power steer hoses
2. Trans where connector for loom enters.

Xmission Fluid

Thanks for replys. I believe I have found the leak. It appeared it was coming from the Xmission pan gasket. I tighten the bolts about 1/2 turn, and have no more leaks as of today. Wonder why with a car that has only 16,300, that would happen?
