Hi all,

I need to transport a Clavinova from East London to Kettering (Northampton)

the dimensions are as below:

W: 140cm
H: 85cm
D: 50cm

Anyone know of anyone who can help me with this?

Many thanks,
Don

I had a Bechstein Grand moved a few weeks ago. Biggest point was getting it craned out of a first floor balcony...

If you're ground floor shouldn't be a problem. There are loads of specialist piano movers about.
I used Astra Removals Astra Piano Removals, specialist Piano movers, uk, europe, free quote and they were brilliant. We are using them again next week to move the piano again.

Getting a crane was tricky. Most people don't want to know. I got quotes for £1400 just to lift the piano out and down to ground level... All this health and saftey stuff...
Got a bloke to do it for £200 cash in the end, plus the removal charge.

I paid £150 to a professional piano mover to have a baby grand moved from a first flor flat to my house about 10 miles away. They arranged everything and were brilliant. Hassle free.

You should be able to disassemble the Clavinova from its stand.

A few years back we managed to transport one in a Kangoo van. The floor was just long enough for the main Clavinova keyboard section with some cardboard packing at each end (and thick cardboard layers underneath and some blocks at side).

So if you have somebody to help then hiring a small van (after checking with the hire company as to the model so I could check the loading bay dimensions) would be my method of choice.

Wow! That's cheap. Who where they?

Colin Batt. We are in Kent.

Well the people I bought the piano from had used them to put the piano into their flat. So the movers still had the plan/layout so no need for a re-survey. At my end there was only one small lift over a doorstep (double patio doors and they were in. So a quick job using a hydraulic trolley/lifter. Can't recall then name. But there were four of them in the van and the piano was correctly crated up in the van. The previous week they had been in Vienna moving a Piano to the Festival Hall in London.

^ Good one.
They say that as you get older, things from years ago are crystal clear.
As that was released in 1962, would you have been playing that whilst wooing Procurator Fiscal's daughter in 1967? Or maybe Frank Iefield (Call her your sweetheart?) or the Troggs (Anyway you want me).

Surely not a bespoke piano remover :dk:

The stand comes off and it will fit in an estate with ease.

That would probaly fit in the boot of my E Class Estate with the seats folded flat. How much does it weigh?

Thanks for the reply gents. I've contacted a few places and awaiting quotes.

As far as I can see, there's no obvious way to disassemble it, it's a Hammond AP 2000

It probably weighs around 90kg!

You lift it in and I'll transport it- as long as you cover my fuel costs:-)

So, it's not a Yamaha after all!!!!!!!
