At what depth of tread left on tyre do you consider replacing tyres.I know the legal limit is 1.6 mm , so I was cleaning up my summer wheels and tyres to go back on car today, the rear tyres tread looked rather low so I checked them they were both 4mm across width of tyre ( P ZEROS ) . I suppose comparing them to my Continental Winter tyres they would look low.

3mm or less and I would start looking at replacing them.

Ditto..

3mm and I replace mine.

As above.

4mm for Winter Tyres.

I always replace when down to 3mm also.

Generally around the 3mm mark, as stopping distances in the wet increase markedly at tread depths less than 3mm.

The exception is P Zeros - seriously - which I find to be particularly useless in cold / wet conditions when less than 4mm - 5mm.

Found that useful, have 4 all at 3.9 or 4. Will replace them in the autumn, only planning to do about 2 k miles in next 6 months. Next decision which brand, on Conti now and find them ok but see that Goodyear Seems to get good reports on E class
