Possibly Detailed wouldn't, because when he polishes a brand new car "some" :rolleyes: have been critical, but yours really was in a different league and the transformation is significant.

Let's call it the MOCAŠ Accumualtion: cars that I can't bring myself to part with. The other three have been tucked up in the garage for between 5 and 16 years, so they're effectively hibernating. It would be nice to get one back on the road per year.

I have to say I have a great deal of respect for anyone who can restore paintwork in the way he has done with the Fabia. Even with new cars, if the finish has been damaged due to poor washing/polishing technique, I can see the attraction of having it corrected.

Hi guys!

I'm glad you are happy with the outcome:)

Not sure if Mocas had pictures up before of how bad it was. When I started I wasn't sure myself it could be fixed as it was dependant on how much it had eaten into the lacquer. When I took the first paint measurements it was pretty low reading @ around 92 microns across the board:0 so I would of been really careful just correcting, let along wet sanding! The roof was levelled with 2000 then 3000. Then it needed a denim 3000 compounding pad with 105, then 105 on a LC wool pad. Then it was polished with 205 on a LC orange polishing pad and refined on an LC red pad with ultrafina. The roof was measured after every pass due to its low lacquer readings and was then protected with my own black magic wax @ 78% pure Brazilian white. I took before photos and after but not of all the stages as I was on a time scale and wasn't sure on the real length of time it could take. The roof was also ipa'ed through tout all stages for a genuine finish and I even knocked out a lot of the orange peel as you can see:) will get photos up later as I'm working in wentworth golf course today:) glad your happy though!

Apart from the two photos on the first post in this thread, I don't really have any showing the damaged areas, so it would be good to see the ones you took - particularly the patch on the front nearside, where it was completely dull. I look forward to seeing them in due course.

Overall I remove 4 microns of lacquer in able to remove the heavy scratches that had dulled the paint in 8 areas upto the size of my foot! (size 11) so was all set around 88,89. Though there are areas still still reading 100-101 as there close to the runners & corners.
 
Roof Wet Sand

I finally have 5 minutes to put a couple of photos up of this. I didnt really take many pictures, but the roof was covered in quite a few heavily scratched areas. They were all around the size of my foot and this is the picture of the more severe one:

I used 2000 then 3000 & then corrected the flattened surface. I used carpro denin 3000 pad with megs 105 then LC wool pad with 105, LC orange pad with 205. I then gave the roof a thorough ipa wipedown to ensure a true finish. I then refine with ultrafina se on a LC red pad and put my very own black magic wax on top.

This picture shows you how bad the rail is compared to the roof now with deep scratches. Obviously the car is quite a light grey so you cant really see how bad it is, but these would need wet sanding to remove also.

Als, I have had a mbclubs members C55 AMG for the last 9 working days. I will be doing a write upon this as its the most extreme car I have work on in my life. But the best bit is its nearly done 100,000 miles!! We have completely re painted the front bumper, bonnet and roof, completly wet sanded them to perfection;) You could tell from the front this had done 100,000 miles!
