Hello,

New here so hello, I have a 2011 Merc Sprinter 310cdi with OM651 LWB converted to a camper

I have an intermittent problem (more persistent) problem with my sprinter.

Drives fine around town and getting up to speed, but when its sat on the motorway for around 1.5hours at 3k rpm it goes into limp mode with EML on. Code is P2663 Turbo boost system performance

Before the EML comes on you can feel a significant lack of power, you can't maintain speed with other cars on the road up hills and acceleration is a lot slower
The turbo whoosh turns to an oscillating sound

Turn it off and leave it over night EML gone and drives fine again. I can drive it for 1.5hours around town and it does not do it, same as i can go down the motorway for a short distance and its fine.
Its just a constant motorway journey that makes it happen, which is hard to get diagnosed. I've been to two garages now and both say we have taken it out for a drive and there is nothing wrong with it.

I've checked all the boost hoses, no cracks or obvious leaks.

partially blocked DPF?

partially blocked DPF?

one of the garages that i went to said it was a blocked DPF and forced a region on it. but no difference.

its not done an automatic regeneration for a while because of the EML but if you force one it does it and the soot level drops so i don't think it is a blocked DPF

Remember a regen will remove soot but not ash? Maybe need to get it on STAR DIAGNOSTICS for more info?
I'm going to have to eventually i think

could be the dpf pressure sensor, sounds very similar to the symptoms on a mates C250CDi (same engine) Only a code read (STAR preferable) will tell for sure.

Thanks for that, I did think it could have something to do with DPF. I will have a look on my code reader and see if I can see the value for the pressure sensor

That poor old differential pressure sensor comes in for some stick on here.

From that description did you mean P2263 not P2663?

Certainly on other brands I know that can be sticking VGT vanes, sticking actuator, or failed in range position sensor. Could imagine the first two happening more after things have got really hot, like a long motorway drive.
Not so easy to prove without decent live data. Freeze frame might give some clues.

Yeah my thought was actuator, as it sounds as if the turbo isn’t making pressure. Oscillating sound rather than suction noise

I plan on plugging my code reader in when I’m on a long drive next, and getting the data when it feels like it’s going to happen.
It’s jsut time consuming to go out and make it do it, as you have to drive it for over an hour lol

Also I’ve jsut looked and there is another code now aswell, linked?

P2bac - nox egr deactivated

Can I see it with icarsoft?
