Thinking of what to get next
Apple is selling an application "Dynolicious" for £7.49 that turns your ipod/itouch into a device that records your 0.60/0.100/et/1/4 mile times using the built in accelerometer and g forces.

I personally bought and installed it on my itouch and it really does work.
Its so much fun cummuting to work now, lol.

Heres a linky review.

Thats nearly worth buying an I phone, im a miserable old bugger who likes to cut his own path through the forest and not join the sheep by purchasing `in` stuff, but that is cool, nothing beats data collecting, especially to do with cars, its a good tool for collating data later (im a poet and I didn`t know it!) and comparing 1 mod against another for financial/benefit reasons,

well done for finding that gem andy!!

I'm confused - the thread title says iPod - but am I right in thinking this is just for the iPohone or iTouch and not your bog standard iPod?

Does anyone have an iTouch? I've been toying with getting one

Yep - got one a few months ago as a present. At first I though it was just a thinner, more expensive iPod but it ain't. It is worth the money - not only for the way you can browse about your music in lots of clever visual ways but also it does a lot of other clever things (never mind this doofer that started the thread). For example - I just got back from the states. Nearly every hotel I stayed in and also airports etc, had free WiFi internet signal. The iTouch is a webbrowser so I could be a sad git and check MB forums and stock prices, e-mails etc (and write e-mails).

It is solid state so no moving parts - about the only thing I don't like is is hibernates too easily (to stop you changing music too easily by touching the screen) and you are forever having to wake if up.

Overall though I'd say it's another Apple iconic device.

It would be interesting to put one up against a G-tech meter and proper timed runs. There is quite a bit of criticism of G-tech for accuracy.

This should be interesting

I've had a bit of a think about this.

1. Gadget. Cool.

2. Neat program. Cool. Want it.

3. Errm.. Why the hell would you put an accelerometer in a phone/MP3 player in the first place?

4. <Cynic> Very handy for repudiating warranty claims when they've been dropped. </Cynic>

Not that I'm a Cynic, of course. ;)

Anyone got a better explanation?

Cheers,

Gaz

Pammy, it is intended for both gen 1&2 iphones and for the itouch only.
Sorry for not making it a little clearer for you.;)

Itunes is the best place to start, start off first of all with downloading the latest software then any other applications you may wish, there heck of a choice.

You got me all wrong....

...the doofer is the software not you....

'Doofer' n. coll. word for object or gadget when speaker cannot remember the correct name of the object or cannot be bothered to scroll up to previous page to find out: Oxford English Dictionary - Concise Ed 2007

Not to be confused with:-

'Doofus' n. coll word for person who is foolish and misunderstands things e.g. the difference between a doofer and a doofus: Ibid.
