Two bucket wash

In regards to the drying im kind of the same I just try and work quickly and I rinse of each panel as I go and give the whole car a rinse each time to keep it wet until its dry time in which case I just drag a thick drying towel over it. I've got ceramic coating so it definitely helps out a bit.

Various professionals on 'Detailing World' say to pat dry rather than drag, just for if there is still something either on the car or in the MF towel.

Try using a QD (I use Megs' Last Touch) as a drying aid, spray it onto each panel just before drying, it helps remove water marks.

And TBH, I do still drag the MF, sorry if that offends the purist....

I can see the logic there I guess might have to try that next time

I also just use one bucket with a guard to keep the dirt away from the mitt. Having a black car though I always do the rinse/snow foam/rinse/snow foam/touch wash/rinse combo.

Owning older black cars and bikes my whole life i would definitely see the benefit of two buckets and quality cloths/mitts...

Call me cheap :p but for a plastic bucket with a guard - I never justified the price of the McGuire’s, builders buckets at 50p or so in your local diy and grit guards if you want them (from Euro or a certain rainforest for £2/3 each).

For the price of one McGuire’s you could try a 4 bucket approach! Lol

Literally do the same although i do use two buckets. Black Car too ha.

I'm the same but, I only do 1x snow foam (& I don't hand dry as I have a water filter) and there is never any "grit" in the bucket ...the water is a little dirty and I've tried to feel the grit and there is none.

I also have a grit guard and think it is a load of nonsense. Sloshing a mitt around in the water stirs everything up anyway and anything else heavy enough to stay below a grit guard would have come off with the foam/rinsing process (if it didn't, it would have scratched the car as I went over it with the mitt).

Blimey, I feel like it is the first day at car washing school for me.
I need another bucket anyway after one of them 'escaped' from the driveway on a windy day and got run over... good excuse to peruse Halfrauds shelves.
Think I shall practise on dark blue workhorse car before a proper 2/3/4 bucket wash of black car after reading this thread again! :)

It doesn't take much longer once set up. Shampoo in one bucket clean water in the other. Grit guards if you like. Clean the mitt/Sponge/cloth in the water bucket then into the wash bucket , wash the car and repeat. Rinse with a hose/jet wash as usual.
oh and make sure the jet wash is on highest pressure setting that way you can change the colour of your bumpers and trim in seconds

Well I read this thread and a few others in this section and learned a lot from everyones advice on what they use. My B&Q builders bucket has been consigned to other duties as my three buckets arrived in the week so my car washing kit has had a radical makeover...

I went with labelled ones as it seemed such a huge change I needed some visual reminder for my aging brain to recall which one I am using!

this is the besyt method...
